Portraits in Film
Analog photography is like aged wine. It takes time, you have to acquire the taste, understand and appreciate the nuances. You have to love the smell of film, love the sound of the film winder, love the mechanical shutter sound, love inhaling chemicals in the darkroom and love working in the dark. You have to love mistakes, embrace them and learn from them. The result of all this is that you not only get pictures to cherish for a lifetime but you also become a much better photographer.
Personally, I love shooting portraits on Film. I use Medium Format and Large Format film for Analog Photography. Ilford films are my choice. For Medium Format I use the Pentax 6X7 or the Hasselblad 6X6 format and for Large Format I currently use the Linhof Technika 4X5. In the past I have used a Wista Field 4X5.
It’s my dream to have my own dark room one day to develop and print in house. Platinum Palladium prints maybe and also some Wet Plate portraits. Watch this space.
